England Coast Path Part 3B West wittering to Selsey

West wittering to Selsey

Distance 11:04 Miles

Time 03:40

Elevation 104 Feet

Here we are again eyes & boots eyes on the views boots on the ground.
looking at the route today we are again walking inland through another wetland, Who Knew there were so many along the south coast!

We start by walking from West wittering with vast sandy beaches children digging in the sand & sand castles everywhere. It's fairly good walking across the wet sand with a sea breeze blowing.

The sea with the groins look tranquil like fingers spreading out into the sea.
The day is grey & overcast and warm a perfect day for walking.

The salty sea constantly working, rubbing  against the groins like a cat with an itch, wearing them down until they are needle thin & snap falling into the sea or being suspended between  friends like a drunk being carried home from the pub!
And the salt, hungry, eating at the steel, consuming it rust oozing out  from all the exposed surfaces.
The path turns inland onto the wetlands, good quality paths, easy walking with great views.

The bees office, not a bad place to work.

Towards the end of the walk we pass through west sands fun fair & holiday resort formally Bunn leisure bringing back happy memories for Lesley.

Lesley's Bit
Many happy holidays were spent here with Bethan & Joseph when they were young.
Massive new sea defences have been built around the site since I was last here but that was at least Twenty years ago!

England Coast Path Part 2B Selsey to Bognor via Pagham Harbour

Selsey to Bognor via Pagham Harbour

Distance 10.37

Time 03:48

Elevation Gain A whole, ''Massive''  60 Feet!

Well it's flat, hot with BIG clear blue cloudless skies, (Well the odd fluffy one) the only draw back today is that there will be a lot of pebble walking which is very tedious but slightly better than dry dusty sand.

We start slightly inland due to housing down to the water not allowing us access to the coast.

Approaching the stepping stones

There are also some wetlands although some of the paths are very dry with the soil shrunk & impressive cracks, Stepping stones also feature on this path.

Cracked Earth!

Nature's crazy paving

England Coast Path Part 1B Goring-on-Sea to Bognor

Goring-on-Sea to Bognor

Distance 14:16 Miles

Elevation Gain 0:88 Feet

Time 04:48:13

Today we head down to goring-on -sea about an hour from our home, so really quite local. This is another section that we will be walking East to west now we are filling in the gaps we left when we jumped along the south coast from Poole to Worthing.

Interesting facts or myth

King George V on his death bed is rumoured to say ''Bugger Bognor''

So, the terrain is flat, good promenades following the coast line, the classic pebbly beaches with sand far out only accessible when the tide is out.

Stoney Beaches

Lovely prom's
Stones shell's & Sea weed

Mile after mile of beautiful beaches with the groins shaped & carved by the never ending onslaught of the sea & the seaweed decorating the wood

Littlehampton Ferry across the River Arun
